First Goal Wins

Ask me anything   Submit   Billy Barmes - I love teaching the game of soccer and have been lucky enough to do so on many levels (youth, HS, college, pro). I also enjoy triathlon training, being outdoors, cooking, reading, music, movies, good conversation, listening and learning.

I have lived alone in Mississippi for nearly seven months now and have received very little snail mail that doesn’t require me opening my check book. Today, I found a particularly surprising package on my step when I got home.
Inside the package was a brand new pair of Adidas Predator cleats. The return address: Brittany Klein, Arcadia, CA.
I was lucky enough to work for the Chicago Red Stars in the inaugural season of Women’s Professional Soccer. As equipment manager for the Red Stars, I was everywhere the team was and managed all equipment and apparel for the players and staff. Throughout the season, I enjoyed getting to know the players through our many hours together on the field, in planes, restaurants, airports, etc.
Brit is one of those players that you just can’t help but love. She will give blood, sweat and tears on the field for her team, and will offer kind words and caring friendship off the field. Brit always took particularly good care of me during the long, often stressful season. I could always count on BK to be my link for messages to the team when I was not in the locker room. She could recognize when help was needed, and was often the first to offer it.
Today, I was graced by another act of Brittany Klein’s selfless kindness.
A big thank you goes out to my fearless All-Star ;-)
